LARGE AND EXTREMELY RARE POSTER OF NICOLAS AND GLOU GLOU, THE ONLY KNOWN COPY, printed in lithography by DRAEGER
This is an iconic poster by this famous children's book illustrator.
Jean de Brunhoff is a French author and illustrator. He is world-renowned for his creation of the character Babar, whose first title was published by Éditions du Jardin des Modes in 1931.
Etienne Nicolas called upon him, who produced his version of Nectar and Glou-Glou.
This is a legendary poster whose existence in this format is not known; it was probably rarely exhibited on the walls of Paris for a very short period.
At the 1937 World's Fair, Nicolas's participation was unparalleled. This included a massive display in the best locations on the exhibition's outdoor fences, the screening of Alexeieff's advertising film "Sleeping Beauty," and the presence of a Dubois fresco featuring Nectar as the central character.
A copy was reportedly presented during the 1937 Paris World's Fair, officially the International Exhibition of Arts and Technology, on the Nicolas stand.
