Sérodent – Pâtes dentifrices is a vintage poster created by Charles Loupot in 1935 for the Sérodent brand, produced by Clermont et Fouet, Paris-Geneva.
It belongs to the world of 1930s hygiene advertising, a period when leading poster artists transformed everyday consumer products into strong, immediately recognisable graphic images.
The composition is based on a simple subject treated with great visual power: two ribbons of toothpaste, one white and one pink, emerge from their tubes and fall onto a large turquoise toothbrush, set diagonally against a deep black background. The image plays on the contrast between the pale colours of the product, the dark background and the large white Sérodent lettering, which occupies the entire lower part of the poster.
Through its striking framing, simplified forms and monumental treatment of the object, this poster turns an everyday hygiene product into a truly modern advertising image. Loupot favours clarity, impact and graphic elegance, creating a composition that is at once sober, dynamic and highly decorative.
Sérodent – Pâtes dentifrices is therefore a fine example of 1930s advertising design, combining commercial effectiveness, graphic modernism and Art Deco aesthetics.
