The Large advertising globe created in 1928 for the Norddeutscher Lloyd Shipping Company for the inauguration of the Bremen liner is a unique piece of high quality. This globe is made of cardboard covered with printed paper illustrating the different land and sea parts. Its design is complemented by glass, wood and brass to hold the globe on its base.

This globe is motorized and rotates on its hexagonal mahogany base. Each side of this base presents photos of the company's Bremen liner, a Blue Ribbon trophy and views of the various journeys taken. These views are backlit, which adds to the spectacular decoration of the object. Plus, it's electrified, with a luminous strip of small white and red glass cabochons inside the globe. These cabochons filter light and rotate to continuously display the title "Norddeutscher Lloyd Bremen" around the globe. A Bakelite control allows you to activate four positions: lamp switching on, illuminated rotating operation, turning lamps off without illumination and complete stop.

This globe is a splendid and spectacular decorative object, particularly thanks to its large size. It is in remarkable condition and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 4 years. On its lower part, it presents the company's new liner, the Bremen, as well as its sister ship, the Europa. The Bremen is a German liner built in Bremen for Norddeutscher Lloyd in 1928. She held the Blue Ribbon for one year on the westward journey, then for six years on the eastward journey. As for the Europa, it was recovered by France after the Second World War and took the name Liberty. Unfortunately, the Bremen, intended as a troop transport for the invasion of England, was burned down in 1941.

In conclusion, this Large Advertising Globe is a unique and remarkable object, both in terms of its design and its history linked to the Norddeutscher Lloyd Shipping Company and the Bremen liner. It is both a testimony to the era and a spectacular decorative object.
