LARGE Bronze and UNIQUE piece edited for the Automobiles Hotchkiss.

This Trophy, entitled the Hotchkiss Rooster, will be present at the Concession of 136 avenue des Champs Elysées in Paris.

It is made by the scupteur Auguste Caïn and is published in lost wax by the Fondeur Susse Frères .

It will also be made for this occasion a French-made bronze automobile mascot "Coq" by Hotchkiss, around 1925, signed "A Cain" on the base, also bearing the stamp of the foundryman "Susse Frères, Paris" and stamped "164" on the back of the base.

This piece in solid silvered bronze ,representing a crowing rooster completed with the Hotchkiss emblem on the front of the base, height 17cm, the hollow base bearing two threaded studs for correct assembly, on its original Hotchkiss radiator cap.

Hotchkiss

Founded in the 19th century, Hotchkiss is first and foremost a weapons manufacturer, hence the crossed barrels on its coat of arms.
After the war of 1870, the American Horchkiss became one of the world's leading arms manufacturers and set up a factory in Rodes, then in Saint-Denis in 1875.
Hotchkiss launches into the automobile industry

Around 1900, due to a lack of sufficient orders, Hotchkiss had to diversify its activity and began to work as a car supplier.
He produced his own models from 1904 onwards, with types C, D and A, of 18, 35 and 70 HP, respectively.
Hotchkiss manufactured elegant and rather bourgeois models, which he described as the "happy medium", between luxury cars and the large productions of Citroën or Renault.
The two Hotchkiss ranges

Between the wars, the manufacturer offered 2 ranges: 4 and 6 cylinders. The models are available in several body styles with place names.
Hotchkiss, which has its own body shop, makes most of its models on 3 chassis wheelbases.
In 1937, for example, 10 bodies are available, most on the 2 normal chassis. Only the Chantilly is available in long chassis.
- the 292 or 309 cm normal chassis, with the Cabourg saloon, the Côte d'Azur Coach, the Vichy Interior Driving, the Basque Coupé, the Biarritz Cabriolet (four-seater) and the Hossegor Roadster (two-seater cabriolet).
