Exceptional and extremely rare Painter's mannequin, with his articulated horse, by Barbe et Cie, late 19th century
This painter's object is a walnut sculpture, assembled from several dozen carved pieces, all articulated and assembled with elm balls. All the joints are precise, they make it possible to obtain natural positions of the horse when trotting or running.
The seated mannequin character is a piece specially designed to be presented in a seated position on the horse, with a particular joint for the spacing of the legs, it can fit together and uncouple from its seat and can be presented standing.
This object is of a very high quality of execution, complete and in perfect condition.
This highly sought-after exceptional object is present in the greatest museums, including the Arts Métiers de Paris, it is also in the major European royal and private collections.
It is very rare to find it in public auctions, but we attach in photos a documentation of only three models auctioned over the last 25 years.
