The Life of Adrien Wettach, Famous in Circus History as Grock
The life of Adrien Wettach, renowned in circus history under the name Grock, the world-famous Swiss clown. A series of vivid, almost Épinal-style scenes retraces the career of a European artist set against the backdrop of world history. Numerous children, wars, an eccentric Russian countess—Countess Barinoff, who grows old while admiring the clown—and a lengthy dispute over a shared boundary wall all serve to highlight the star performer's final act.
