An Icon of Automotive History: The Alfa Romeo P2
Produced between 1924 and 1930, the Alfa Romeo P2 holds a legendary place in the history of motor racing. As the first car equipped with an 8-cylinder engine designed by Alfa Romeo, it marked the debut of the brilliant engineer Vittorio Jano, recruited with the support of Enzo Ferrari.
The P2 distinguished itself with an impressive competition record:
World Constructors' Champion in 1925, precursor to today’s Formula 1 Championship,
Landmark victories by Antonio Ascari and Gastone Brilli-Peri,
14 race wins between 1924 and 1930, including the mythical Targa Florio,
A remarkable track record maintained despite regulation changes — proof of its technological superiority.
The History of CIJ
The Compagnie Industrielle du Jouet (CIJ) experienced rapid growth during the 1920s. Faced with increasing demand, Fernand Migault partnered in 1927 with his cousin Marcel Gourdet, a talented technician who operated a metalworking workshop in Briare. Together, they founded Établissements Migault S.A., which would soon become a benchmark in high-quality metal toy production.
