Family Felix Labisse is established in Douai. After the First World War, in 1923, she moved to Heist-sur-Mer in Belgium. His father created weapons of sea fishing in Zeebrugge. In 1924 Felix Labisse did his military service in Cambrai. In 1927, the ailing family business and the family moved to Ostend. Felix Labisse renounce a seafaring career and begins to truly devote himself to painting. He founded in Ostend with his sister Antoinette, an art gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art, which held just two years. It is close to James Ensor and enter into relationships with Constant Permeke Spilliaert Henri Vandeputte, Jean Teugels and future Henri Storck.
