One of the most beautiful, certainly one of the rarest and most important, Italian ski posters.
Cortina d'Ampezzo, a famous ski resort in the heart of the Dolomites, attracts a luxury clientele and celebrities.
From the 19th century onward, Cortina became a summer resort for English tourists, who came there for hunting and mountain hiking.
The resort was the site of the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1932.
From 1947 to 1955, the town provided logistical support for the Dolomites Gold Cup.
Cortina d'Ampezzo hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics and will host the 2026 Winter Olympics. The 1944 Winter Olympics were scheduled to be held there, but were postponed due to World War II.
Every year, Cortina hosts a women's downhill skiing World Cup event. Since 2018, the town has also hosted the men's World Ski Championships.
