The Franco-Romanian Air Navigation Company (F.R.A) was created in April 1920. In 1925, it became the International Air Navigation Company or Cidna. She is also known as Franco-Romanian.
Historical
At the end of the First World War, during the negotiations which preceded the signing of the Treaty of Trianon in 1920, the idea of an air link between Paris and Bucharest was proposed by the Romanian diplomat Nicolae Titulescu to his French counterpart, the General Maurice Duval, the latter becoming the first president of the future company1.
This company was created by Count Pierre Claret de Fleurieu, a French pilot in the First World War who shot down four planes in 10 days before having his arm amputated (SPA 95 squadron)2. It is the first in the history of intercontinental aviation to transport passengers by airliner in a commercial setting.
At that time, Pierre de Fleurieu was employed at the Franco-Roman bank Marmorosch Blank & Cie, managed by Aristide Blank.
