TERESZCZUK Peter

AUSTRIA ( 1875 - 1963 )

Peter Tereszczuk, born in Wybudow, Austria-Hungary (now Ukraine) on February 9, 1875, and died in Vienna, Austria) on August 14, 1963, is an Austrian sculptor related to the Art Nouveau movement.

BiographyPeter Tereszczuk studied woodcarving at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts under the direction of Hermann Klotz. It is in this city that he will realize his most remarkable works, between 1895 and 1925. He is best known to collectors for his chryselephantine bronze statuettes with a brown patina, hands and face in ivory from 15 to 30 cm high.

His figurines are often used as decorations for office objects such as inkwells, paperweights or lamps. They bear his signature and the stamp of the Ullmann foundry on the rear edge of the base.

His bronze sculptures regularly appear in auctions in Europe and America, where they are highly sought-after.
