OGALOP Dit Marius Roussillon

French ( 1867 - 1946 )

Marius Roussillon, cartoonist and painter was born in 1867 in Lyon, died in 1946 in Carnac. He was the neighbor and friend of Jules-Alexandre Grün 20 rue des Martyrs. Cartoonist, he has participated in many humorous and satirical journals such as ''Le Rire''and''Assiette au Beurre''. Very good watercolorist, his fame comes from the poster that he had proposed to the Michelin brothers in the late nineteenth century. We have not yet discovered where he had his nickname O'Galop. The slogan Nunc est bibendum''taken''by the Michelin brothers is extracted from a tirade by Rodolphe Salis at Black Cat, and it is seeing the drawing board that they had submitted Roussillon, the bibendum which is still today Today the emblem of the firm Clermont-Ferrant.
