HISTORY

The Fiat 804 or 804 Corsa is a racing car from the early 1920s developed by the Italian car manufacturer Fiat. Intended exclusively for competition, it distinguished itself in 1922 by winning the Grand Prix de l'Automobile Club de France and the Italian Grand Prix, thus establishing Fiat's domination in Grand Prix races ahead of such prestigious manufacturers as Ballot and Bugatti.

Fiat once again lines up three 804 cars - with a redesigned chassis to avoid the incidents that happened at the ACF GP - at the start of the Gran Premio d'Italia 1922 (Italian Grand Prix) that takes place on September 10th on the brand new circuit of Monza. Felice Nazzaro and Pietro Bordino are once again present, accompanied by Enrico Giaccone on the third car. The engine power is increased to 112 HP (82 kW).

Unexpectedly, the domination of Fiat in the ACF Grand Prix leads to many defections for the Italian GP: Ballot, Benz, Bianchi, Bugatti, Mercedes, Rolland-Pillain and Sunbeam announce their withdrawal from the race. Austro-Daimler is also forced to leave the race due to an accident during the practices. In the end, only 7 cars, including 2 Fiat, took the start: the Fiat 804 of Giaccone could not take the start because of a clutch failure. After 80 laps, Pietro Bordino finished in the lead, followed by Felice Nazzaro.
