Leon Bailby appointed by Rochefort editor in October 1905, became manager in November 1907 and baptized Intransigeant and the Journal de Paris until June 1916 and subtitled always sold 5 cents, he wants, in the 1920s, the largest daily in the right opinion of evening, with a circulation of around 400,000 copies, and a paging which rose 2 pages during the war to 8 pages. In 1930, the daily reached 10 pages sold for 25 cents.

In December 1932, Bailby, as a man on the right, resigned for political reasons, and the newspaper passed into the fold of the Louis-Dreyfus group, taking a more centrist orientation, but his financial situation worsened, its circulation only reaching 130,000 copies at the end of the 1930s. The management passed to Jean Fabry from December 1936.

In September 1934, L'Intransigeant published an interview with Adolf Hitler, in which he reaffirmed his pacifist intentions and expressed his views on questions relating to the League of Nations, the Saar and the Franco-Soviet rapprochement in order to face the Germany. Although the interview is signed by a special envoy, the socialist newspaper Le Populaire reveals that it is a pseudonym and that the interview is actually" fabricated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs German.
